Hispanic Literature

The Literature and Cultural Studies major track offers students innovative courses in Spanish that helps hone their skills in intercultural communication. Courses in the program, taught by internationally renowned scholars who are also award-winning instructors, focus on a variety of regions, subjects and perspectives that include the cultures of the Southwest, visual art, music, cinema, literature, urban spaces, borders/migration, and community engagement. The track equips students with the tools to understand the increasing complexity of today’s globalized world and helps them to assume innovative roles as professional and community leaders in the 21st century. Moreover, its comprehensive focus on students’ professional development assures that graduates are ready to transition into successful careers after college. Proof of this is that graduates of this program have gone on to fashion their own unique career paths in the fields of law, medicine, public policy, teaching, journalism, publishing, creative cultural industries, as well as to pursue graduate study at top programs in the country.
