Spanish Activities

El Cotorreo Spanish LANGUAGE Convo Group

Come practice your Spanish language skills with other learners and graduate students from the Department of Spanish and Portuguese!  This is an informal, low-stakes environment where everyone can put their Spanish into practice.  Whether you're in Spanish 101 or Spanish 360, interested in understanding Spanish language memes online, or trying to brush up before a trip to a Spanish-speaking region, you are welcome to come and cotorrear with us. Check out our flyer for more information: El COTORREO SPRING 2024

When: 4:00 - 5:00 pm (AZ time) every Tuesday

Where: We will be alternating modalities weekly, one week on Zoom and the next at Panera Bread (845 N Park Ave, Ste 125). Final meeting will be at Panera.

Community Outreach

If you are interested in practicing Spanish and want to help organizations in need in the Tucson area these are the right events for you! We will be collaborating with organizations that need assistance with their projects. All levels of Spanish are welcome!  Stay tuned for more details.


Bilingual Encounters

The Spanish for Heritage Learners Program proudly promotes our language and culture in the university community through six undergraduate courses and two bilingual encounters:

Club Bilingüe

The Club Bilingüe is an informal meeting. Students are encouraged to attend in order to interact with other peers in the program as well as practice Spanish outside of the classroom. WHERE: We will be alternating modalities between Cesar Chavez 211 and on Zoom.

Club Latino de Arizona

Club Latino de Arizona (U of A official club) began in the fall of 2006 as an organization affiliated with the Spanish for Heritage Learners Program. It is made up of current and former students from the program. This club has several objectives, some of which include: maintaining and promoting Spanish in the community, performing volunteer service, organizing and participating in Hispanic cultural events, learning and honoring each member’s cultural heritage. Portuguese Activities

Bate Papo
