Hispanic Linguistics Symposium 2025

Theorizing Methods in Hispanic Linguistics

When
All Day, Nov. 13 – 15, 2025

This year’s theme, “Theorizing Methods in Hispanic Linguistics,” is broad and encompasses all subfields of Hispanic Linguistics as well as all methodological and theoretical approaches to the field. We envision HLS 2025 as a venue for the critical re-examination of our collective theoretical stances, with the potential to lead to the cross-pollination of ideas among Hispanic linguistics scholars from different methodological clines. Reviewing, scrutinizing, and ultimately re-envisioning our methods with fresh perspectives on our work and the subject of study is essential to advancing our field. HLS meetings have traditionally offered an important platform for discussions about advances in linguistics based on data drawn from the Spanish-speaking world and neighboring communities (e.g., Catalan, Euskera, Guaraní, Portuguese, Quechua), and we aim to honor this tradition
