I have been working at Emerge! Center Against Domestic Abuse in Tucson, AZ since 2015, where I support survivors of domestic violence at the emergency shelter and through the crisis line. My undergraduate degree in Spanish Transnational and Interpretation honed my Spanish speaking, writing, and listening skills, which have allowed me to better support monolingual Spanish-speaking program participants and callers. In addition to this, I have been able to use my training in translation and interpretation to help translate and/or review translations of some documents and handouts for the agency. I am currently a Ph.D. student in Mexican American Studies and have also been a Graduate Teaching Associate in the UA Department of Spanish since Spring 2020.
