In the fall of 1999, I began working as an Assistant Professor at the University of Arizona in the Department of Linguistics, and I've been here ever since. Besides the Linguistics Department, I'm also part of the Cognitive Science program and the Second Language Acquisition and Teaching program.I work on syntax, morphology and lexical semantics, with a special interest in argument structure cross-linguistically. Together with Maria and Santos Leyva, I am investigating the grammar of the Hiaki (Yaqui) language, a Uto-Aztecan language spoken in Mexico and Arizona. I have supervised over 20 doctoral students, and am hugely proud of every one. See my web page for a fuller description of my research and teaching, for a relatively complete catalog of my publications (most downloadable) and for a complete list of supervisees.
