Anyi Ahumada Velasquez is in her first year of the Ph.D. in Hispanic Linguistics and is also a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at The University of Arizona.
Raised in a small, cozy, and beautiful town called Caicedonia located in the southwest of Colombia, she is passionate about natural landscapes, hiking, traveling, and languages! Anyi earned her Licenciatura (B.A.) in Modern Languages at the University of Quindío (in Colombia) in 2020 and her masters in English at Emporia State University in 2024. Her teaching background includes teaching at the primary and high school level, as well as higher education.
Anyi's research interests so far include Phonology, Dialectal Variation in Colombia, and Second Language Acquisition and Teaching.
