Anyi V. Ahumada Velasquez is a third-year Ph.D. student in Hispanic Linguistics and a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Arizona. Originally from Caicedonia, a small and beautiful town in southwestern Colombia, she holds a B.A. in Modern Languages from the University of Quindío in Colombia, and an M.A. in English from Emporia State University in KS. Her teaching experience spans primary, secondary, and higher education. Her research interests include bilingualism, Family Language Policy, language ideologies, and heritage language maintenance. She is also interested in how online and informal educational initiatives, including social media, can make linguistic knowledge accessible to the broader public, foster critical reflection on language, and promote linguistic equity.
