Ramirez, Carlos Garcia
Graduate Associate
Originally from Guaymas, Mexico, Carlos Ramirez is a graduate associate in the Department of Spanish & Portuguese at the University of Arizona, whose research is centered on the integration of music in social stories interventions to convert it into a corrido intervention for K-12 Native American and Hispanic students with autism and/or ADHD. Carlos received a Master’s in Special Education, and Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Arizona, currently he is completing his PhD in Special Education, and hopes to create more inclusive general educational spaces for K-12 students with behavioral disturbances.
With a focus on high quality learning strategies, and notable teaching experience, Carlos is committed to provide a productive and interactive learning experience for his students.
In recognition to his leadership, research application to practice, equable access for people with disabilities, and community engagement, Ramirez was named the "Man of the Year for the 2024 40/40 Awards" from the Southern Arizona Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, as well as a recipient of the 2024 Diane Lynn Memorial Award from the Community Foundation for Southern Arizona.
In his free time, he likes to walk his 3 dogs, Luna, Lewy and Loretta, as well as play bassoon, especially music from Vivaldi.
