
Mrs. Kenia Okiyama has her Bachelor's from Middlebury College in Philosophy with a minor in religion. There she also learned Italian and Japanese. She then joined the Mary Lou Teachers College at Arizona State University and served as a K-12 Special Education teacher. She completed a second Master's degree at Middlebury Language School of Spanish where her favorite courses involved studying monsters, zombies, cinema, and social justice. Her Master's Symposium was titled Extractivism and Eco-Feminism in Latin America. She spent a summer abroad in Argentina at the Universidad Católica Argentina.
Her research interests include: neoliberalism studies, decolonial studies, international trade, and latin american indigenous literature.
Hobbies include gardening, food horticulture, house plants, and slam poetry.
