Hannia Rojas, Brandon Martínez, and Dr. Ana Carvalho contribute to Borderlands Sociolinguistic Research

Sociolinguistic corpora are a vital tool used to research how language and communities are connected and opens the door to sharing and preserving linguistic data. In an article that was co-authored by Spanish Linguistics graduate students Hannia Rojas and Brandon Martínez, Spanish Linguistics Professor Dr. Ana Carvalho, and others, they dive into the use of two sociolinguistic corpora found at the U.S.-Mexico border called CESA and CoBiVa. The project was partially sponsored by the National Endowment for the Humanities grant that Dr. Carvalho had received with her colleagues The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley.
